If you’re a non-EU national who has lived in Spain for five years, you can apply for permanent residence. Then, after ten years, you can apply for Spanish nationality by residency. And with that comes a Spanish passport.
There are some exceptions that allow certain people to apply for citizenship sooner. For example, you may be eligible if you’re married to a Spaniard, are the child of a Spanish parent, or a child born in Spain to one parent who is originally from a non-EU country.
